Blog Entry No. 4: Home Nursing Techniques; Signs & Symptoms of Illnesses & Diseases

1.  If you are a good home nurse, what are the various home nursing techniques that you need to apply that will make the patient feel comfortable and speed up the recovery?

-To make the patient comfortable, you need to follow the correct covering of the bed and  covering the pillow because it helps the patient to feel relax and comfortable.
-To make the patient recover fast, as a home nurse it is our responsibility to make sure that the patients drinks his/her medicines at the right time and amount. Its also our responsibility to record everytime the temperature of the patient (if he/she has a fever) to know if his/her temperature is going down or not.  And of course to follow proper hygiene and make the room of the patient clean to help his/her illness or disease recover fast.

 2.  Why should the home nurse monitor the vital signs of the patient?
-so that the home  nurse could see if the patient is well under his/her care and to know that if he/she is doing well taking care of the patient and responsible. and to know if the patient is slowly recovering.

 3.  How do you take the body temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure of the patient?
-To take the body temperature, you have to use a thermometer to know if he/she has a fever in his/her mouth, rectum or armpit.
-To take the pulse rate of the patient, let the patients sit or lie relaxed and comfortably. then. locate the pulse and use your two fingers to know. use a watch or timer for accurate counting. Lastly, record it.
-To take the respiratory rate or blood pressure, let the patient lie or sit comfortably. then wrap the BP cuff around the patient's arm then place the bell-shaped end of the stethoscope on the inside of the elbow where the pulse can be felt.

4.  What are some practices that the home nurse must follow that will
           promote comfort to the patient?
-the correct way of covering the bed and pillow.

 5.  How will you differentiate signs from symptoms of illnesses and
           diseases?
symptoms is if there's something wrong with your body or mind and then it's a SIGN already that you're sick or you have an illness.

6.  If you are the doctor, what will be your basis in giving the diagnosis for your patient?

If I was the doctor, my basis in giving the diagnosis for the patient is to make the patient feel that he/she could rely on me, trust me in giving the correct medicine to let him/her recover fast and to really observe the patient to avoid his/her illness be more complicated or dangerous.

Blog Entry No. 3 (Administering of Medicines to the Patient)

1. What significant insights have you learned from the topic?
The significant insights that I have learned from administering of medicines to the patient is...
First, giving the proper medicines of  the patient's specific illness is very important, because giving the wrong medicine to the patient may add problems to the illness of the patient . The wrong medicine may harm the patient's life. Secondly, following the prescription of the doctor is important too, because its from a doctor. They've learned about those medicines and etc.when they were still studying. That's why following the prescription  from the doctor is a must because they know best. And lastly, checking the expiration date is very important too, because the medicine that you're administering to the patient may be expired and that's dangerous because it may cause side effects to the patient and may harm its body.

2. How does proper administering of medicines help our patients in their recovery?
The proper administering of medicines help the patients in fast recovery because, just by following the prescription of the doctor and doing it properly to the patient is already a big help for recovery. It helps to avoid further more illness/ injuries/ sickness to the patient. By proper administering the medicine to the patient, the medicine do its job for the illness/ sickness to lessen and to let the body of the patient recover.

Why do you think health care to the individual, to the family and to the community is important?

I think that health care to the individual is very important, because you'll be more responsible of yourself to take care of your health and not just rely on your parents or being careless about your health. Its also important because if there comes a day when you'll be alone in your life and you don't know how to take care of yourself because you're always relying on your parents then it will  be a problem. It will be a problem because you don't know how to take care of yourself and since you don't know you easily get sick. And also because if you're alone there's nobody who could help you if you're sick. That's why health care to the individual is very important even though we are still young to know about it but we should understand that we need to know it.

I think that health care to the family is very important, because it helps you to get to know each other especially how you feel and and your needs when you get sick. It's also important, because it creates close family ties in your family.

I think that health care to the community is very important, because it helps you to get along with each other with your community. And it also helps us be caring to our community too even though they're not our family or relatives.

Recycled Craft Project:))))

^my experiences when making the project was fun most especially when we're joking aroundXD most especially when the boys in our group made the bracelet and necklace made from my beads:))) watching them was fun while making that because it seems like it's their first time making one..but oh well, at least they now know how to make it:) even though...its a girl thingXD and then also the bag that our group decided to do. when maam said that we could go downstairs at the caf where 3rd years or 4th years learn how to sew. so we went downstairs and then tried to sew the bag but there were complications on the machine so sadly we were not able to finish it that time. But Sirikit continued it at home so it's all done and it's totally cute:))))
