Blog Entry No. 5 (Making the Bed & Bathing the Patient)

Making a Bed
1. Why do we need to know how to make an unoccupied and occupied bed?
       -We need to know how to make an unoccupied and occupied bed for us to be responsible enough to change or make an occupied or unoccupied bed.
 2. How does making a bed help in the fast recovery of our patient?
     -It helps the patient recover fast because they will feel comfortable and have a good sleep which basically helps them recover.
3. As a good home nurse, how will you be able to render your services to your patient through bed making?
     -As a good home nurse, I am able to render my service to the patient through bed making because I am making them feel comfortable and sleep comfortable without distractions or whatever.
  
Bathing the Patient
1. Why do you need to give a bath to the patient?
    -We need to give a bath to the patient to feel refreshed, clean and recharged from all that time just lying on a bed and etc.
2. What are the materials needed for bed bath or sponge bath?
  -the materials needed are  2 big towels, 2 big small towels, rubber sheet, a basin with warm water, soap and light blanket.
3. What’s the importance of using a urinal or bedpan?
   -the importance is that it helps those patient who is expected to stay bedridden
 for a long period of time.
4. What do you mean by back rub?
    -Back rub means letting the patient feel refreshed. it's like a massage actually.
5. How do you differentiate cold compress from hot compress?
    -Cold compress is to reduce inflammation while hot compress used to increase circulation.
